Notes
[edit]- Added by Lynn Panchuk Price:
- The school was torn down in the mid 70's
- Became the garden of the Gardner Museum on The Fenway
- The class size was approximately 15 to 20 students
- 4 freshmen classes and 4 senior classes
- Total student body consisted of approximately 100 students
- Haven and Lillian Powers, along with Dean Margaret McStay ran the school during this period
- Richard Swan taught beginning acting. He was as flamboyant as he was loved. A real theatrical flair. Always lighting up a room with positive energy and love. Other than owning "The Queen Anne Inn" in Chatham, Mass, I am not sure what his theatrical history was.
- George Bolton taught the second year acting classes.
- Miss Atkinson was the teacher who put us through monologues. We would memorize and perform in front of our class. We would sit around in a circle and the person performing would do it in the middle of the circle. We then got to critique their performance. Miss Atkinson was always proud of the "walk on" she had in the movie [House Boat]Filmed in 1958 with Cary Grant and [[Sophia Lauren].
- Miss Eaton taught us dipthongs and vowels. Speech was her life.
- Mr Hall taught the music appreciation classes.
- Jack Knell taught us all the nuts and bolts of radio and tv production and performance.
