This article contains a translation of Universität Leipzig from de.wikipedia. |
University Library of Leipzig
[edit]A better translation for Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig would be the Leipzig University Library or the University of Leipzig Library. Other examples, include University of London Library, Oxford University Library, Cambridge, etc. Any objections? Mloafness (talk) 10:06, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I actually agree with you. I like "Leipzig University Library" best. — N-true (talk) 13:10, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- University Leipzig uses "University Library" itself. So "Leipzig University Library" seems appropriate. Toscho (talk) 10:41, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
The University under the German Democratic Republic
[edit]The paragraph contains much less informations than the German article.Xx236 (talk) 10:17, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
I fail to see why it should be addressed that extensively here. There is an independent article on the subject, and it seems to be a matter of personal opinions, not of a university-wide policy. Axolotl Nr.733 (talk) 10:03, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- "it seems to be a matter of personal opinions, not of a university-wide policy" = Says who ? Because, Leipzig University put out a press statement saying that they had initiated a probe by a university commission (which is yet to publish it's report). So, do you have some extra news which we are unaware of even before the conclusion of the probe by university authorities ? If yes, kindly cite your sources.
- (just my personal opinion) Maybe the incident sub-section can be shortened once this matter is settled after the conclusion is arrived at when the report of the investigation into the incident is published (the President of Leipzig university had mentioned that the investigation results will arrive in 2 weeks).

- You are the one speculating here. There is exactly one person known to be involved. That is a matter of personal opinions, unless proven otherwise. Axolotl Nr.733 (talk) 16:58, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
- Not that the controversy isn't a serious matter, but it does seem to be given undue weight. This is a 600 year old University with a lot of history (and any university that old will have had a number of controversies and scandals) and yet almost a sixth of the article is taken up by this one recent controversy. As there is an separate article dedicated to this controversy there need be no more than a short summary in the main article. Chris Fynn (talk) 15:11, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
Leipzig internship controversy is not to be addressed here. It is a minor incident regarding a single student which occurred in the rich 600 year old history of this University. This incident takes too much space in this article. And moreover minor incidents regarding a single student of other old established classical universities across the world are not addressed by Wikipedia. Now if you believe this incident needs to be addressed in such manner then every other such incident and incidents of higher magnitude that happened with respect to Leipzig university should be written in great lengths such as this was written. This alienated incident does no justice to this article and to the second oldest university in Germany. Also there is no Boycott of Indian male students in Leipzig University, infact the University record will show that the number of Male Indian students are same as before, maybe a bit more, and I being an Indian male student at this University have not come across any such boycott. So if Wikipedia is more or less an allegation based information imparter then it fails in it's purpose miserably. Thereby to give a balanced weightage with respect to comparison of all major university it is required to remove this section. Allegation by a single party with vested interest must not be promoted. Also note that there is separate Wikipedia article on this incident. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bengalurumaga (talk • contribs) 14:37, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

People
[edit]Coming across the section with affiliated people:
- I don't think we can say "produced ... notable individuals", - what is that supposed to mean? Alumni?
- J. S. Bach is pictured, but not even in the list. Please clarify his affiliation.
- The order of the listing is not apparent, half alpha then not. How about subheaders?
- I don't believe we need to repeat "German" for the entries, - might be default, no?
- I see no need to mention a redlinked publication. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:00, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
