Morning Call

[edit]

The Morning Call (particularly Sam Kennedy) conducted what it called an "investigation" on the organization sparked by a campaign from a disgruntled former employee. No effort was made at the time to make the investigation unbiased. This opinion piece should not feature in the article. -- Scjessey 15:12, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please do a bit more to explain this "bias". The piece was not an opinion piece as I read it nor was it stated to be an editorial. Your opinion that the article is biased is not compelling.Mysteryquest 15:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was at the college at the time. The Morning Call only pursued interviews with disgruntled employees and students, and declined offers to give interviews to anyone else. The article misrepresented the facts of the situation at the college. -- Scjessey 15:21, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well this is your personal opinion and constitutes original research and a possible bias toward the school which are contrary to Wikidia policies. The article is extensive and covers interviews with numerous people including staff at the school. Your problem with the article is based only on your personal views and biases which are no reason not to include the investigation in the article. Readers should have access to all information not information that you do not like. They can form their own opinions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mysteryquest (talkcontribs) 15:28, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Given the obvious POV nature, I have tagged the section accordingly. Let others decide on the matter. I've also noted the weasel words used. Please do not remove the tags yourself, since they related to material added by you. -- Scjessey 15:31, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I believe I took out the Wiesel words so I removed that tag, if you think I didn't by all means put it back in. I was merely quoting words from the headline of the article but I have paraphrased it instead. The POV does not relate to words I added, they apparently apply to a newspaper article I referenced that you do not agree with as I understand it. I did not write the article, just referenced it.Mysteryquest 15:44, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Scjessey acknowledged above being "at the college." In addition, on his personal websites he states he was employed by the college as an instructor, and he developed a website for the college, presumably for pay. On his user page he states he earned a high high grade average, and honors at the college. These appear to cause potential conflict of interest. Perhaps he should recuse himself from further edits, to avoid this appearance.

I shall not recuse myself from editing any article of which I feel I can offer useful knowledge. I have not had any kind of association with the college for 2 years, and I did not receive any pay for designing any website. There is no conflict of interest, and how would a new user like you know anyway? -- Scjessey 13:42, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can read. <--Guantanamo247 14:18, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Keep it civil, chaps! I can't see any huge issues with the article at present, and Scjessey (talk · contribs) doesn't seem to have any huge issues with the article either. In any case, your concern is noted! Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 14:26, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
