Title must be changed

The current title is not correct, "Legitimacy of the State of Israel" is the correct title.

What should it be changed to? Tranman64 (talk) 22:01, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Rhetoric

Calling it Rhetoric seems a little biased to me? Also, pro-Israel claims are stated as fact, while anti-Israel claims are quoted.

Reference: "The answer is simple: They are trying to divert attention from the intensifying world opposition to the occupation of the West Bank and to the blockade of the Gaza Strip, both of which, by almost any standard, are illegitimate. They are trying to divert attention from the ever-expanding settlements, which are not only illegitimate but illegal under international law. They are trying to divert attention from the ever-louder calls for Israel to grant Palestinians equal rights."

Wiki page: "M.J. Rosenberg, writing in the Los Angeles Times, argued that the term "delegitimization" is a "distraction", whose purpose is to divert attention away from world opposition to the "illegitimate" occupation of the West Bank and blockade of the Gaza Strip, from the "illegal" settlements, and from "the ever-louder calls for Israel to grant Palestinians equal rights"."

Re: Rhetoric of Delegitimization

The subsection "Legitimacy rhetoric as distraction" seems to be entirely devoted to one person's opinion. Shouldn't this be an issue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A000:121A:C07E:A5AE:475F:8EE5:B955 (talk) 23:18, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Failure to mention Indigenousness

At the beginning of the article, it implies that the Jewish claim to self-determination in Israel is purely a religious one. See:

"According to Bible, the children of Israel as biological descendants of the Patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob) are the legitimate and rightful owners of "Land of Canaan" or "Promised Land" because God only promised to give the land for the merits of the fathers."

In actuality, the Jewish claim to Israel is one of indigenousness, the Jews are indigenous to Israel as has been established by genetic and historical evidence. I ask that any editor with the ability to do so adds a paragraph that explains this, rather than allowing this article to contribute to misinformation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.184.39.16 (talk) 15:13, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

I have removed the paragraph instead, which was inserted in March 2020 by an editor who has been blocked for making mass changes without consensus. Seloloving (talk) 16:19, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Countries' recognition

The list of countries recognizing Israel should be updated following agreements with Bahrain, Sudan, Morocco and Bhutan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:ED0:5F4C:2800:5046:2CDE:AC44:C21A (talk) 11:55, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

Worst Wikipedia Article I Know

This is truly an awful article, the fact that Israel’s legitimacy is subject to debate because of recognition, by that means why isn’t North Korea or South Korea on the list, or Kosovo and Taiwan and China, the fact to single out one state, Israel on its legitimacy is a disgrace as other countries are not subject to the same treatment on this site regardless of their recognition. Incorrect statement regarding recognition by Arab countries

The page is protected so I can't change it. It states: "On the other hand, nine members of the Arab League recognise Israel: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Palestine". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel%E2%80%93Oman_relations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_Israel#/media/File:Countries_recognizing_Israel.svg Shows that Oman doesn't recognize Israel. Not sure about Mauritania. The others appear correct. But since there is no citation, perhaps removing or rephrasing to not give an exact number is best. Gjetost (talk) 15:55, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
