I dont believe that the ottomans forced anyone to convert to islam, it is widly known that the empire had a policy of religious and cultural tolerance that surpasses that of any christian empire in history. the venetians actually oppressed the greek orthordox cypriots and tried to force them to convert to their catholic beliefs.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.166.25 (talk) 02:23, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
