Infobox
[edit]Can something be done about the infobox/image - which is quite long, making the long image even further down the page.
The infobox's seems to be some cruft in it - eg a-z of closed stations, links to categories etc. Plus it says "leeds" twice. For some reason the coordinates now take up two lines - can it be wider
Making the long image smaller is a problem because currently the text is just readable, but if smaller it won't be..Prof.Haddock (talk) 00:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- The infobox is
{{Infobox UK disused station}}
which is normal for any closed station in Great Britain (outside the London area). The "cruft" in the infobox was agreed some years ago, although I don't recall if it was by WikiProject UK Railways or WikiProject Stations. If you want it changing, please discuss at Template talk:Infobox UK disused station but make sure that you inform both WT:WikiProject UK Railways and WT:WikiProject Stations. - It should say "Leeds" four times, not twice: once as part of the station name; once for the "Place" (set by the
|locale=
parameter); once as part of the "Area" (set by|borough=
) and once as part of the name of the original railway company. - The infobox normally sets its width so that is just wide enough to contain an image (specified by
|image_name=
) that is 265px wide, see for instance Ardsley railway station; in the absence of an image, the width is governed by the widest non-wrapped row, which is typically the heading "Disused railway stations in the United Kingdom". For me, the coordinates do not take up two lines. You can widen it up by finding and adding a photo of the station building. - Images may be clicked to enlarge them where desired. Text in images is rarely intended to be readable, see WP:MOS#Avoid entering textual information as images. If it is intended to be readable, full alt text must be provided, or the text within the image should instead be entered as plain text within the appropriate paragraph.
- This edit reduces the space occupied by the image, the
|upright
parameter is normal for any image taller than it is wide; if the image still pokes down too far, you could add|left
