I feel Lee Lanier is as important an influence for the 3D Maya graphic design community as Bert Monroy is to the Photoshop community. Maya is taught in college's and universities throughout the world and Laniers' books are often used as references'. His ground breaking work in texture and lighting has bought a new age to 3D graphics and the movie industry and his work will become, in my opinion, some of the most defining for 3D graphics for the next decade.
