GA Reassessment
[edit]Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
Hi, I am reviewing this article as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are a number of issues that need to be addressed. As many sports related GAs are unmaintained and not improved, I will be providing only a cursory review to begin with. This review will be placed on the talk page and I will notify the wikiprojects involved (not necessarily at the same time). The article will then have seven days from the day of notification for someone to come forward and start making the suggested changes and taking responsibility for the article here. If someone comes forward, I will supply a more detailed review, if someone does not then the article will be delisted. If someone is working on the article then, within reason, there will be no time limit in which the changes have to be made.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:01, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose): b (MoS):
- The prose is OK, maybe a 7/10 average. (although its "2nd", not "2rd")
- It is factually accurate and verifiable.
- a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
- Early life section, which is really a personal life section, is totally unreferenced. I would also consider merging with controversies.
- It looks like someone has messed around with the infobox, repair it please.
- It is broad in its coverage.
- a (major aspects): b (focused):
- What happened at the 2008 Olympics? Can there be some information about his 2008 mixed doubles victory?
- It follows the neutral point of view policy.
- a (fair representation): b (all significant views):
- It is stable.
- It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
- a (tagged and captioned): b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
- Overall:
- a Pass/Fail:
- Have you notified the associated projects and major contributors of this article? Thanks.--GDibyendu (talk) 09:16, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- About 2008 results: added info on 2008 doubles at Olympics. The US Open mixed doubles win is already listed in the table under the section Leander Paes#Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.--GDibyendu (talk) 18:45, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but it (as with most of his Grand Slam wins) isn't discussed in any detail. These are high points in his career and should consequently have a high level of coverage: this doesn't.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:26, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure what kind of detail is expected. Career sections mentions every grand slam win or loss in finals and who was the partner etc. "2003–present" section mentions about 2008 win also. What more detail is required?--GDibyendu (talk) 09:15, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, there are no Tennis player FA articles so I can't show you what I mean. However examples of more detail that could be required include: comments by or about Paes regarding his victories, his opponents in the finals, his relationship with his partners etc. Its really referencing that is the problem though and should be the first priority.--Jackyd101 (talk) 10:10, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think this now passes, although without further development and more expansive sourcing it will never advance beyond GA and may be at risk in the future. Thanks for the work done.--Jackyd101 (talk) 23:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
