Illegal piano?
[edit]"..partially due to an illegal piano." Why would a piano be illegal? --StarChaser Tyger (talk) 14:48, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know if this is the case here, but in some jurisdictions, an establishment requires a separate license to provide live music.
- Ah, I wondered the same thing. Also, who's Salis? The name just appears suddenly, without explanation, other than it being on the poster: "...but within three and a half years its popularity forced it to move into larger accommodations a few doors down. Salis most often played, with exaggerated, ironic politeness, the role of conférencier (post-performance lecturer, or Emcee)." Who? 217.166.94.1 (talk) 14:20, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- Rodolphe Salis, the founder of Le Chat Noir. --Thnidu (talk) 07:39, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
Paris today
[edit]In Paris there is a Hotel du Chat Noir, which isn't mentioned — is it on the site of the original events? It seems a bit odd to mention the Barcelona and Brussels places but not the modern French one. Also, aren't there some (probably many) other places with the name? I think there's a gallery in Paris too. We should avoid a long list of commercial premises. But if the hotel (or bar, or anything else) in Paris is on the original site, that should surely go in. Anyone know? – Kieran T (talk) 00:55, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Closed 1897 or open today?
[edit]The photo of the venue today seems to contradict the text. Is the photo spurious? --Kleinzach 01:08, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Le Chat Noir re-open its doors in 2011 in Miami, Florida and is the creation of A. Salis a descendent of Rodolphe Salis. It is the only one in the hands of the family that founded it in 1881 and is a Performance Venue. Le Chat Noir de Salis (talk) 18:10, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
