Federal vs State laws
[edit]Maybe should mention that the federal law, generally known as act, because it is the act of parliament. The laws of individual state in Peninsular are known as enactments, whereas in East Malaysia, they are called ordinances. --Tikar aurum (talk) 19:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks mate. Will do. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 02:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Your statement about supremacy of federal laws over state laws regarding sharia is insufficient. Clause 2 of Article 76 explains that regarding sharia laws and local customs of Sabah and Sarawak, no bills can be brought to Parliament until the state is consulted and if ever these bills are passed in Parliament can only be enforced after consent of state assemblies. In my understanding federal sharia laws only apply federal territory and eventhough this law exists can not be applied upon the state and that is why there is no uniformity regarding sharia law in the country. --Tikar aurum (talk) 06:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. U may correct any mistakes made in this page, or add which part u feel is insufficient. I was only referring to Art 3: Islamic law is a state law matter except FT, and Art 75: Acts of parliament shall prevail over state laws. Sorry if theres a mistake. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 07:32, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
