When was the Law of Citations made Obsolete?
[edit]There are clear signs that by the time Justinian was codifying Roman law, the Law of Citations no longer would have had force. In the first place, the procedure that Justinian used for creating the Digest was clearly not preferential to certain jurists. Secondly, the Corpus became the only source of law. I can find reference to the fact that the first edition of the Codex included the Law of Citations, but I can find no indication that it was included in the second edition. If it was not included in the second edition, is it possible that the Law of Citations had no further use? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natures Colours (talk • contribs) 21:14, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
