Photo of La-7
[edit]The photo shows La-7 not La-5.
262 shootdown
[edit]Which one shot the 262 down, La-5 or La-7? It is credited to both planes, despite that only one was shot down by Soviets.
- The La-7 is a refinement of the La-5, and therefore, the author found it fitting to add info on the La-7 under the La-5... Confusing.
Which variant arrived late March 1943?
[edit]In late March 1943, a mock dogfight was held between a recent Lavochkin and two Lend-Lease fighter types. The US and UK types fared quite well. Which Lavochkin variant took part in this display? The story here says it was a LaGG-3, but the timing seems wrong to me. Binksternet (talk) 21:55, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
The pilot that claimed 9 Ju 87s in a single sortie
[edit]I have added information to prove this claim was false. Soviet archives don't even support the claim, indicating the total claims of the entire unit that day were 5. Dapi89 (talk) 17:08, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
La-5 in service in SPANISH STATE (fascist Spain)? Oh my...
[edit]The single plane referred as in service in Spanish State is a mistake. Vicente Beltrán (a Spanish republican pilot exiled after the defeat in the Spanish Civil War) had a La-5 with tail number 84 and Spanish text on it. But he served in 960th IAP, a regiment of foreign volunteer combatants in the Soviet Air Force. Not the Spanish State, not even the Republican Spain. Spain never used La-5 in service. --Lironcareto (talk) 19:32, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
Why is
[edit]The majority of operational experience is a reference to German testing of the type. There is a wealth of experience regarding Soviet use of this common type. Why is it not mentioned?--Senor Freebie (talk) 15:20, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
