[edit]why does this article have an airport infobox? WikiTownsvillian 11:39, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Because the Barracks includes a helicopter support facility, I guess - Google maps shows a Chinook helicopter at the base. Is the 5th Aviation Regiment based here or at Townsville Airport? Nick Dowling (talk) 11:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Add to category: Military buildings and structures in Queensland?
[edit]I noticed that these barracks were NOT in the listing for the WIKI category: Category:Military buildings and structures in Queensland.
However, the Lavarack Barracks IS LISTED in the category: Category:Military installations in Queensland.
I note that the former category includes a few active bases, but a number of inactive or historical bases, whereas the latter category is ALL Active bases. Someone should take a look at these two categories: perhaps there is a 'starting' date (i.e. historical) associated with being in one or the other category??
The other option would be to 'clean-up' and perhaps rename the former category with the addition of "Historical" in the category title, and the latter category with "Active" in the category title.
I think this would clear up the confusion, and make it clear why a military base was listed in either category, or perhaps in Both -- if a historical base was still in active use today.
