Dubious

[edit]

Neither the Canadian Pacific Railway nor the Columbia & Western Railway have ever traversed this international crossing.

In the absence of adequate citations, the border post reference of 1897 looks equally suspect. The railway reference is possibly a confusion with the Great Northern Railway tracklaying from Marcus, crossing the border in March 1902, https://open.library.ubc.ca/collections/bcnewspapers/xphoenix/items/1.0186016#p3z-1r0f:%22inst%22
with passenger service from July 1902. The latter year may well have been the opening date of a customs post, necessitated by the presence of the railway track. DMBanks1 (talk) 21:34, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
However, the presence of a part-time sub-collector, at least since 1898, indicates that importers were required to make contact, likely at the sub-collector's residence. https://open.library.ubc.ca/collections/bcnewspapers/xboundarycr/items/1.0170620#p11z-3r0f:%22sub-collector%22 DMBanks1 (talk) 01:40, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
