The result of the move request was: Consensus to disambiguate (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 20:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
– This is the primary topic. The other Laurie Davies is a dead football player who played in 9 games. Coin (talk) 05:50, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- Note: Laurie Davies titles an article with significant content and so is ineligible to be a target title in a move request unless it is also proposed to be renamed. This request has been altered to reflect that fact. P.I. Ellsworth ed. put'r there 03:34, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:RECENTISM, a recently elected local politician does not become the primary topic upon election just because the other people with the same name didn't have long careers. Iffy★Chat -- 10:23, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- 160,000 people voted for her.
- The combined crowd sizes for those 9 games is 74,000 according to 1940 VFL season and AFL Tables.
- Comment they are both stubs, DAB should be at base name.--Ortizesp (talk) 15:21, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- The football player is a permastub. Coin (talk) 04:30, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per Iffy and Ortizesp and would certainly support the creation of a Laurie Davies disambiguation page since the one-sentence stub for the footballer is definitely not primary. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:29, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose - neither should be the primary topic. A dab page showing both would be appropriate Spiderone 09:52, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Disambiguate; no primary topic. There appears, however, to be another Laurie Davies (born c. 1937), with a VFA football career:
- "Williamstown's half-forward flanker, Laurie Davies, brought up from the seconds, proved to be the "find" of the season". Michael Meeking, "W'town Holds Top Place in V.F.A. With Brilliant Win", The Age (June 17, 1958), p. 17.
- "After a five weeks' trial, Laurie Davies has been discarded as full-forward". Trevor Davis, "Four Changes in Moorabbin Side", The Age (August 14, 1959), p. 20.
- "23-year-old Laurie Davies... will play only their second full game for this year. Davies played eight senior games in 1958 and six last year, when he also came on as a reserve six times". Trevor Davis, "Bourke Selected in Shock Oakleigh Move", The Age (September 23, 1960), p. 30.
- I would be rather surprised if this Laurie Davies bears no relation to the earlier Laurie Davies who played in the same league a generation before. BD2412 T 03:52, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
