Date of birth difficulties
[edit]I'm having trouble finding this television personality's date of birth if someone could assist. I've spent literally days looking for it and it seems its nowhere to be found. She did a good job of hiding this information. Thank you! 173.0.254.226 (talk) 02:33, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Personal Life
[edit]Ms. Lake has requested to edit the personal life portion of her a Wiki page. Please do not restore the content once removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.243.206.34 (talk) 16:52, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
- Some of the material deleted by 98.243.206.34 did violate WP:BLP. However some of it was appropriate and so I have restored the text that I believe complies with BLP. Mitch Ames (talk) 09:51, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, quite a lot of the section contains irrelevant stuff. So now there's not much more than what 98.243.206.34 left in the first place! Mitch Ames (talk) 10:50, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Ummmm... excuse me, but "Ms. Lake" does not get to "edit the personal life portion of her Wiki page!" That is its problem. "Ms. Lake" needs to realize that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, NOT a resume, a place for self-promotion, or a place to post her "personal" biography. So she'll have to source the facts in this BLP just like any other contributor. She'll also have to realize that Wiki is a collaborative editing project. She would be well-advised to review WP:AUTOBIO, paying particular attention to WP:YOURSELF. Then, if she still has difficulty with others editing her article - which WILL happen - she always has the option of requesting that Wiki administrators remove her entry in its entirety from this project. No assurance that would happen, but that is the correct procedure. 107.214.30.15 (talk) 10:03, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- 107.214.30.15, if you look at the edit made by 98.243.206.34 (who I presume is Lake's representative), you'll see that it deleted a large amount of material from the "Personal life" section - the edit was not "self-promotion, or ... her 'personal' biography". As per my comments above, I reviewed and re-edited that section, and generally agree that most of the deleted material did not belong. A couple of non-controversial and referenced details have been added back since.
- You mentioned WP:AUTOBIO and WP:YOURSELF. In the interests of balance, we should also point Lake and/or her representatives to WP:BLP#Dealing with articles about yourself. Of course we Wikipedia editors should be aware of WP:BLP#Dealing with edits by the subject of the article. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:37, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
