From when I first heard of this place, I always wanted to know the origin of the name Launching Place. If anyoe knows, it would be a great ddition to this article. Roblowe48 (talk) 08:06, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I was told by a good friend who lives in Launching Place - Mark Collard - that it is named after the spot on the river where the logs (freshly cut down in the valley) were floated down the Yarra to be milled in Melbourne. That is, the logs where "launched" at this place along the Yarra River. Of course, this was back in the days when the Yarra was a real river, and not dammed in the Upper Yarra. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.214.47.54 (talk) 22:35, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
