These are some great sources that follow the Wikipedia standards for evidence. This promises to be a significant improvement to this entry. Katherine.Holt (talk) 02:49, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
Lead Improvement
[edit]Latin American poetry is the poetry of Latin America, mostly but not entirely written in Spanish or Portuguese. The unification of Indigenous and imperial cultures produced a unique and extraordinary body of literature in this region. Later with the introduction of African slaves to the new world, African traditions greatly influenced Latin American poetry. Many great works of poetry were written in the colonial and pre-colonial time periods, but it was in the 1960s that the world began to notice the poetry of Latin America. Through the modernismo movement, and the international success of Latin American authors, poetry from this region became increasingly influential. Windyrmt (talk) 01:00, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Suggestions for Improvement
[edit]Overall I think this is a really good article. I did notice that you switch between present and past tense when describing events, so go through and make sure you keep it consistent. There are also a few segments that have strange wording, mostly under the 20th century section. There is a sentence that starts "All this (1910 and 1940)" which does not seem complete. I just think you need to go over/complete this section as a whole. Also, the summary at the beginning mentions how Latin American Poetry did not gain much recognition until the 1960s, and I think later on in the article you could go more in depth on how that happened/what authors/works spurred that on. It also might be interesting to talk about the types of poetry a little more (if you can find information) such as sonnets, limericks, haikus, free verse, etc, and discuss the themes of each and how those themes shifted.
