[edit]Not sure how such things come to be allowed, but the following reference regarding the Beyer study and its objections is to a blog, that presents excerpts of the English and German "last Letters…" wikipedia articles (the only mention of Beyer). We are therefore citing a blog citing ourselves (this article). Here is the removed reference:

Not encyclopedic, and of no value leaving in here as a source—and in fact detrimental, because in appearing as a sourced statement, readers approach the work unquestioning, and editors as if that statement's editing is finished, needing no further attention.
