- I am reviewing this article as part of GA Sweeps. This article needs much work to bring it to the current standards of WP:WIAGA. I am about to outline a partial list of issues that need to be addressed. After I post this listing, I will give concerned and interested editors a week before I reevaluate the article's quality rating. I will be following along with the progress of the article and may make additional comments as it is appropriate.
- According to the alt text checker, the article is devoid of WP:ALT text.
- Alts added.--Giants27 (c|s) 18:20, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think most people would look at those images and say NFL game or NFL logo without prior knowledge so you need to make the text more general.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:34, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Would "an American football game" or "an American football team's logo", work better?--Giants27 (c|s) 00:27, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:49, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Done.--Giants27 (c|s) 01:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think the game one is O.K. As I look at the logos, I am troubled. If I were blind and you told me this was an airplane with an American Football team's logo on it I would not know what it looked like. Alt text should be something like "A plane with a mostly white body and blue lettering readign "HAWAIIAN" toward the front with a Black emblem beneath it that has white lettering that says RAIDERS and has a picture of a man with a black eye patch, a football helmet and two crossed swords behind him. The tail of the plane is colored in various shades of purple with a picture of a woman with a flower in her hair." Think about how you would describe the picture to your blind friend who does not know the Raiders or the NFL.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:46, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Changed again.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:54, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- You still include a lot of information that would not be easily recognizable and that should be in a caption. The phrase "Former alternative logo of an American football team showing a " could be removed. "Original logo of an American football team " could just be logo. Think about what a person who does not know the subject sees.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:23, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Done.--Giants27 (c|s) 12:45, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- I still see excess wording that presents information that many would not recognize and images without any alt text.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:10, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

According to the dablink checker, this article has a problematic dablink that needs to be addressed.- Fixed.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:34, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- According to the external links checker, this article has 11 deadlinks and 2 suspicious links.
- I'm currently working on fixing this problem.--Giants27 (c|s) 17:41, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- All of the deadlink refs have been fixed except for ref #82 which for some reason doesn't work on internet archive.--Giants27 (c|s) 18:03, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

The rivalry section is in bulletpoints and should be converted to paragraphs of prose.- Done.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:28, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- The prose has entire paragraphs without citations. Presuming that the article is well organized with paragraphs presenting different ideas, each should have at least one inline citation to uphold the current standards at WP:WIAGA.
- Please see WP:CAPTION#Wording with respect to use of periods in the captions.
- Removed periods.--Giants27 (c|s) 18:20, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think you have removed some instances where the period denote the end of complete sentences.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 19:37, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Fixed, I think.--Giants27 (c|s) 02:32, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- No. Please look at each caption and determine which ones are full sentences. Then, consider the policy. Only full sentences end with periods.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:16, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand why File:Oakland Raiders helmet rightface.png needs to be used twice in the article. Its redundant use seems to conflict WP:NFCC#3Removed on second occurance.--Giants27 (c|s) 18:20, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- File:RaidersScript.png has a tag on it.
- Removed.--Giants27 (c|s) 18:20, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Is that the best route. It seems to be a pretty relevant image.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 18:57, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- True, re-added.--Giants27 (c|s) 19:24, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure that is necessarily a non-free image. Simple text like that would be {{PD-textlogo}}, but still {{trademark}}. Simple block lettering like the image could even be recreated as SVG if I understand the Threshold of originality issue correctly. -Optigan13 (talk) 21:46, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

- File:General Partners 1968.JPG violates WP:NFCC because Al Davis is a living person for whom a free use picture could be created. I do not believe the other individuals in the image need a picture in the article.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:16, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
- Many problems have been addressed, but the lack of citations is the most important and the article continues to be quite deficient. I will check back in a few days to monitor progress.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
