Controversy

[edit]

68.229.49.44 03:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC) I feel that some events from the schools history such as the Laramine Project controversy should be added, however I'm lacking in information if someone wants to take to this?[reply]

If you see reason to include it in the article, then be bold and do not be hesitant to add information (granted that you include sources). --DannyDaWriter 22:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Laramie Project was a play that was put on for a couple of weeks at the school. it was nothing special, Las Vegas Academy has several theater shows in a typical school year running for a couple of weeks at the time. At the time Westboro Baptist Church was making a tour denouncing that particular play. Less than a dozen from the group showed up, set up in front of the church next to Las Vegas Academy. On the other side of the street were about 300 counter-protesters. WBC left at about 7AM, and the rest started filing out a bit after.

Notable events from the school's history should include its awards over the years, or leaving of the first principle Robert Geyre, who were a couple of the people behind starting the magnet program. The Laramie Project's protest at LVA should probably go into The Laramie Project's article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.48.40.133 (talk) 03:31, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a "theatre" student wrote the article- Needs cleaned

[edit]

I went through and corrected the misspelled "theatre" throughout the sections i stuck my nose in, but I do not really know a lot about LVA and I think that a student or preferably, faculty member of this school should do the clean up on this article. It reads like a theater student wrote the article, and not well. It talks about part of the school being haunted, without any reference. As a matter of fact, there is no reference to anything stated in this article at all, besides the blanket link to LVA's website at the bottom. This page needs to be expanded and cleaned. Definitely, the emphasis on the theaters is proof enough. However, the "haunted" part can possibly stay. It's a long-running school-wide myth, everybody who attends the school is familiar with it. There are actually several myths, but that's definitely the best known one among students.
