Las Trampas land grant info

[edit]

I've moved this addition by User:Trampero here for discussion and fixup. I've cleaned it up a bit:

The Santo Tomas Apostal del Rio de las Trampas land grant was given by the Kingdom of Spain, on 1 July 1751, as a "tax free" community land grant to Spanish soldiers and Tlaxcalan Indians . Originally over 58,000 acres, the U.S. Patent Grant #27 reduced the land area to 28,000 acres. Before the patent was signed, the Santa Fe Ring had successfully sequestered(?) the common lands, from the Tramperos. All but approximately 7000 acres are now in the Carson National Forest.

Do you have a source for this material? Most of it seems factually correct, but not really in encyclopedia format yet. I'll be happy to try to fix it up with you, Pete Tillman (talk) 20:43, 31 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
