COI Contributions
[edit]Some of the information on this page has been contributed by the CSIRO Communications Team, and we welcome any discussion about the content. JennaDaroczy (talk) 09:22, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your contributions and for disclosing your COI.
- I don't think there's any way you could edit the page itself without violating WP:COI:
- This page in a nutshell: Do not edit Wikipedia in your own interests or in the interests of your external relationships.
- Your contributions should be limited to suggestions in TALK.
- You should also read WP:RS carefully. In particular, Wikipedia usually requires secondary sources, such as news stories from major independent news publications, rather than using the organization's own web site and releases. --Nbauman (talk) 16:43, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Clean up
[edit]After some clean up, and given the disclosure above, I have removed
A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject. (February 2016) |
since the article now reads more neutral.Eastwood1964 (talk) 15:23, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
The first part of this article remains a hagiography. Can we have some reality injected, and a few decent references please? people.csiro.au is NOT a disinterested party! Ambiguosity (talk) 09:41, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Removed promotional language and changed style & template to match Alan Finkel & Cathy Foley Federal Chief Scientists of Australia - split & simplified into subheads education, research, career. Added references & Companies founded, removed hyperbole. Mediawatch.angel (talk) 05:27, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
Neutrality
[edit]The intro needs clean up given that part of it reads like a promotion. Other parts of the article now read like a newspaper editorial. Contributing editors should have no links, present or past, to CSIRO.Eastwood1964 (talk) 13:49, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- Cleaned up intro using style of other Australian science figures (Chief Scientists). Removed slabs of text copied from newspaper articles and summarized relevant data succinctly. Mediawatch.angel (talk) 04:57, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Rewrite
[edit]I've done a minor rewrite of this page's content, as it was exceedingly hagiographic, promotional and editorialised as was mentioned by the above users. Still needs a lot of work, particularly the huge and largely irrelevant climate cutback section, as well as the laser section. If possible, a birthdate and photo should be added at some point, and some more neutral citations added. Thanks. Epsilonal (talk) 09:56, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- I condensed the largely irrelevant climate section by removing material repeating newspaper articles which were already referenced. Extracted the key facts and presented as dot points. Consolidated climate, water and lawsuit into a single section "Controversy". Removed repetitive citations, added more current neutral citations, and cut laser section.
