[edit]Just curious - Lark Street is sort of a famous hangout in Albany, similar in significance to Greenwich Village in NYC - To people in Albany and the Hudson Valley Region, the street is very well known, and there's a big connotation attached to living there...
Shouldn't this be worthy of keeping the entry?
- Of course! See WP:50k. Bearian 20:19, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- For the relevant official policy, see WP:USRD/NT#City streets. Lark Street clearly meets or exceeds this guidline, being synonymous with downtown Albany's "Greenwich Village" and location of historic buidlings and the filming of Ironweed (film). Bearian 16:13, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- whoops, sorry. i walk down lark street almost every day and i didn't know about its connection to the LGBT community. i'll stop messing with the tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.67.56.14 (talk) 10:04, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
North, South, East, West, everything in between
[edit]I know Albany streets are not for the most part on a north-south, east-west compass setting. That doesnt mean we have to get all technical and put "southeastern-most side". Locals refer to the streets as being north-south (Lark and the rest of the streets that go that direction) and east-west (Washington, Madison, and the parallel streets to them). Lets keep the local form in wikipedia. Same with the side of the street references- east side is the side towards the Plaza and west side is the side towards Washington Park of north-south running Lark Street.Camelbinky (talk) 02:41, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Gay Village
[edit]Currently, I believe there is only one dedicated Gay bar, "Oh Bar", located on Lark St. "Waterworks" and "Rocks" on nearby Central Ave. are usually not considered to be part of the Lark St. area, however it should probably be mentioned in this section that they are nearby and part of Albany's "gay village". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.76.85.224 (talk) 01:15, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
