A cornered herd, two species against the large predator
[edit]The c. 2000, copyright 2000 book: '"A Guide to Dinosaurs", in the 16-book Topical series: Michael K Brett-Surman, consultant Editor has the scenario of this 3-species incident at the Lark Quarry site.
The last and Sixth chapter lists Sites and Museums: Smithsonian, USA; Amer Mus of Nat'l History; Dinosaur Nat'l Mon, USA; Hell Creek; Dinosaur Trackways of the USA; Dinosaur Prov. Park, Canada; Natural history museum; Musee National d'Histoire Naturelle; Hlzmaden and Solnhofen; Las Hoyas; Inst of Ver. Paleo. and Paleoantrhropology; Zigong Dinosaur Park; Liaoning; Flaming Cliffs; Valley of the Moon; Karoo Basin; "Lark Quarry"; "Dinosaur Cove and East Gippsland".
The two page explanation(for "Lark Quarry") of the two cornered herds, one a presumed "ornithopod" herd, is how they fled in the opposite facing direction of the moving Predator. Speed rates are stated with all the fleeing creatures departing at the same gate/-speed(speeds 1, 2 and 3 for the 3 species), approximate-ing a single file-like departure, or multiples departing. A "stampede" might not be an accurate portrayal; it is presumed these two species were up against a cliff face. The speed and footprints of the Predator take note of the Scenario. The predator was pointed in one direction, and the fleeing was done to its Rear. These are on Pages 242-243 of the above stated Book.
