Talk:Largest gold companies

what do you consider unecessary stat pages ? there are pages for largest companies in the world, largest banks, largest Canadian banks, largest cities, largest countries. there isn't a page listing the largest gold companies. why shouldn't there be a page for that ? there are people interested in that information just as there are people interested in the largest banks in the US, Canada, and they have their own page. I'm not an editor on this encyclopedia page and I know you guys tend to overreact when random people try to force their views so I'm not going to take the template off the page. I'm going to leave that to you. how is it that this encyclopedia doesn't have a page titled 'largest gold companies' ? that's not right.

thanks for more proof on why the page shouldn't be delted. this isn't a long sprawling list, you could apply that argument to many other pages including

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_future_GDP_(nominal)_estimates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Five_(banks)

it's not hard to understand either. it's very simple but there's also too much information on the page, to consider incorporating it into another article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.7.238.92 (talk) 00:57, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

what would the page merge with

[edit]

there isn't any other article on the encyclopedia the deals with the companies that make up this sector of the world economy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grmike (talkcontribs) 01:09, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i'd like to keep this page and keep improving it

[edit]

instead of putting up for deletion can people just be patient and see if it gets more interest from other people who want to add to it. none of the articles are perfect when they are first made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grmike (talkcontribs) 05:06, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Time element in article

[edit]

Unlike facts like "Mars is a planet", the market caps fluctuate with time, so statements like "The market cap is" should be avoided. Instead, the table should contain a list of market caps at a particular stated date, such as 31 December 2009. Stephen B Streater (talk) 19:39, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
