Mergefrom Laois-Offaly

[edit]

I propose merging the article Laois-Offaly into this one. Both articles refer to the same constituency, which (despite spelling changes in its name) has covered the same territory consistently since the 1920s.

Given a choice of which title to use for the merged article, this one seems better beceause:

  1. Laoighis-Offaly is the current official name of the constituency (see for example Oireachtas members database)
  2. This article's includes the phrase "(Dáil Éireann constituency)", which I suggest that all such constituency articles should include, in order to remove the ambiguity created by the inconsistent naming patterns of Dáil constituencies in wikipedia.

ooops! Just spotted that in the 30th Dáil Under the Electoral (Amendment) Act 2005 (No. 16/205) the official name of the constituency will become Laois-Offaly. Nonetless I suggest merging into this article before renaming to Laois-Offaly (Dáil Éireann constituency) --BrownHairedGirl 11:29, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
