Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because importance is asserted that he had over 1000 followers. This is a page for cleanup and improvement, not deletion. Personally through my studies in Chinese history I have heard of this figure. Other articles are also present on the Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean Wikipedias. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 00:05, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... this meets notoriety requirements. This gentleman was important in terms of a coup attempt against the first emperor of China, has language pages in 4 other languages because of this, and is a significant and noted historical figure. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LT910001 (talkcontribs) 00:10, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Defending Lao Ai

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia staff,

Lao Ai is a significant historical figure in himself and deserves to be covered in a unique page. This can be seen on other wikipedias. Lao Ai has been marked for speedy deletion, reviewed, and completely deleted without comment within a span of about 10 minutes. I think this article deserves to stand on its own feet for a least a couple of months to accumulate edits. I am unaquainted with other historical figures who do not have their own entry.

Will be expanding but this article seems to be being edited so fast this temporary edit will have to do.LT90001 (talk) 00:36, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Right. Second edit:

  • First, the Chinese Yellow Emperor is one of the most important historical figures on the planet. Thus people with even of slight historical note by relevance to the yellow emperor can be considered important.
  • Second, Lao Ai is referred to in several historical records. I just translated this page from Chinese, and am not an expert, but this page could be expanded with proper attention. This I believe is the purpose of Wikipedia.
  • Third, deleting and rolling back a page should not be carried out by Wikipedia editors without proper discussion, especially redirecting the page AFTER the speedy delete tag has been removed.
  • Fourth, there are at least three other references to this article (Qin Shi Huang, Empress Dowager Zhao, Lu Buwei), which is more than can be said for many wikipedia articles.
  • Fifth, this article allows for centralisation of the information about Lao Ai on the aforementioned pages.

In conclusion, this is a small article that can be expanded on in the future, relates to a figure of historical notoriety as in historical records, and deserves to be, as with other historical figures, treated as a figure unto himself rather than a sidenote on another page.LT90001 (talk) 00:36, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Material on Lao's alleged sexual ability

[edit]

Please do not remove the relevant material on Lao Ai's (supposed) sexual ability without consulting the sources and familiarizing yourself with the subject matter. This material is noted in Records of the Grand Historian, which is the canonical historical work for this time period, and is integral to the characterization of Lao Ai in the story of Lü Buwei's rise in the court of Qin. Please see also WP:CENSOR. AristippusSer (talk) 16:10, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have removed the following section on popular culture because it is currently unsourced and does not seem to me to bear enough significance to warrant inclusion in the article:

"In Manga Kingdom, he was described as an indecisive man. But he loved the Queen Mother truly. He followed what she says, even becoming king of Ai."
