[edit]

As I suggested here Talk:Maltese language a new section regarding Bilingualism in Malta throughout the ages would help to enhance the article. --Gian (talk) 01:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Latin

[edit]

Is Latin part of the Maltese school curriculum? --Error (talk) 00:47, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic

[edit]

Given the genetic relation, I was surprised that there is no mention of Arabic. Is Arabic understood by ordinary Maltese? In the tourism industry, is it spoken? In my hotel, I saw a veiled woman and a waiter speaking in what I understood was Arabic (not that I am certain). Would that be unusual? Do North African immigrants learn Maltese quickly or do they prefer to speak English? --Error (talk) 00:51, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contradictory statistics

[edit]

The section "Maltese" says

a majority of vocabulary comes from Sicilian and Italian

but the section "Italian and Sicilian" says

30% of Maltese vocabulary is of Sicilian and Italian origin.
