Historical perspective
[edit]I readded the content I originally added to the first part of the College career section. I think it does pertain to Jones as it explains how he came to be Bradford's backup. Many articles contain this historical perspective, including Bradford's. There is not too much detail, just enough saying that Bradford competed against two other his freshmen year, won the job, one transferred and one graduated elevating Jones up to the backup qb role. We're talking two sentences here, not a whole paragraph.↔NMajdan•talk 15:43, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree in 2007 Jones was in high school and had nothing to do with the Sooners. This is an article about Jones not the 2007 Oklahoma Sooners football team.--Yankees10 15:47, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- This article is about Jones, and I feel a brief description about how he came to be the backup quarterback is useful. How about dropping the 2007 sentence and restructuring the 2008 sentence to say something like In 2009, third-string quarterback Keith Nichol transferred to Michigan State, leaving senior Joey Halzle and Jones as backups to Sam Bradford. That reduces the description on how he became backup to one sentence. Compromise?↔NMajdan•talk 16:13, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah that sounds good--Yankees10 16:15, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with User:Nmajdan that information about how Jones came to be the backup is pertinent to and should be in a biographical article about Jones. —Lowellian (reply) 17:36, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
