"Was it a just war?" section
[edit]The "Was it a just war?" secion of this article seems heavily POV, particularly with its flat assertions as accepted fact of controversial and disputed claims. LeoO3 20:02, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree the section is not right as it stands, but a section contrasting the claims of the letter with subsequent facts is justified. Can we edit the section to an NPOV equilibrium and let the clear facts speak for themselves? --technopilgrim 04:36, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Nothing has happened so I chopped it under WP:OR & WP:CITE rules. We need a 3rd party who has criticised the Land Letter in retrospect to re-include. Ashmoo 05:07, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
Christian leaders who did not agree with arguments in the letter
[edit]The article claimed that there are many Christian leaders who did not agree with arguments in the letter, by citing Opposition to the Iraq War in the last paragraph, which reads:
It should be noted that many Christian leaders did not agree with these arguments. See Opposition to the Iraq War.
However, there is no mention to any Christian leaders in the Opposition to the Iraq War article. Therefore, I have added a citation request next to the word many. frankywong2000 02:53, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think you missed the section Opposition_to_the_Iraq_War#Religious_opposition. Rocksong 03:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Added external links
[edit]I added two external links, one to the homepage of the ERLC, and the other to the ERLC's text of the letter itself. perko 04:38, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- For better or worse, this is an historic letter. Should we work on bringing a copy of the Land Letter into Wikipedia? Is there a copyright problem? Doug youvan (talk) 23:01, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think a link to a copy would be better. This is an encyclopedia, not an archive. Quoting key sections would be acceptable though. Ashmoo (talk) 08:52, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Low Importance?
[edit]The importance scale for this article takes me here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Christianity/Assessment#Importance_scale. I'd say that is the wrong place to have the importance of this letter graded. Doug youvan (talk) 23:05, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
No references at sbc.net?
[edit]As of today's date, a search of http://www.sbc.net/search/sbcsearchengine.asp?cmd=search&SearchForm=%25%25SearchForm%25%25&indexcode=SBC%2C+IMB%2C+NAMB%2C+ANNUITY%2C+LIFEWAY%2C+WMU%2C+ERLC%2C+SEMINARIES&fuzzy=&stemming=&phonic=&natLang=&maxFiles=10&request=Land+letter&Submit=Search yields "No Results". Why? Doug youvan (talk) 23:31, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Have any of the signatories repudiated it???
[edit]Have any of the signatories repudiated it since they signed it??? Or do they still all believe that the invasion was "just"??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.154.2.8 (talk) 14:35, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
