allegations of animal mistreatment
[edit]Sorry, folks, I didn't see the previous edits and deletion of similar material. While I agree that the earlier posts I looked at were POV, I hope that what I added meets NPOV standards. Although I cited PETA's investigation, the citation was from a media report, and Land O' Lakes investigation was cited to a business news source, although it's origin is noted as Land O' Lakes. I noted PETA's animal abuse as alleged, since they seem to say that any animal use could be abuse, and referenced remarks to Land O' Lakes vets, although, considering all the improvements suggested by LOL's vets, it sounded like the place needed some improvements. Pls discuss any POV issues with this on this page. I think that these accusations merit cautious mention on this page, however, since the page is so short, the section should be kept short to avoid WP:UNDUE. - Hi, Baseball - sorry I don't understand what you mean by coatracking. I'll beware, but what is it? Bob98133 (talk) 13:38, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- See WP:COATRACK. Having an article being supposedly about one topic, but actually being about another due to excessive coverage of one particular subject, is called coatracking. You said undue weight, and that's related. Perhaps info like that should be in the PETA article instead? →Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 22:58, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks - that makes sense. It's hard to tell with this article. There is the unreferenced history (which credits the company with quality, etc. thru advertising), followed by what is sort of a trivia/popular culture section mostly unreferenced, then a list of companies with relatively little to do with the subject. Probably the entire thing should be rewritten and referenced. As it stands, the allegations section is kind of hanging on to the article, but it's one of the few things that's specific to the company and referenced, so it should probably stay. At some point it might be consolidated somehow with the unfair practices/advertising remark in the first section. It would fit in the PETA article, but that article is always undergoing efforts to be shortened, and PETA does a lot of these things, so it's not as notable there. I wouldn't have included it here if Land O' Lakes didn't have their investigation included since then it definitely would be more about PETA than LOL. Bob98133 (talk) 01:56, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Bob--just for the record, I think you did the best that can be done with a difficult subject in a difficult article, and I was the biggest "hey, that's not NPOV" gal. So thank you!Kozitt (talk) 13:57, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Egg price-fixing conspiracy
[edit]Can someone add a mention about the egg price fixing conspiracy (see links below) to the entry?

Please respond with questions -- the aim here is to help this page reflect the rapid changes taking place at the company in the last year or two. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josephlindberg (talk • contribs) 21:47, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
To add to article
[edit]To add to this article: on April 15, 2020 it was announced that Land O'Lakes, after 92 years, will be removing the Native American woman from its packaging. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 03:59, 16 April 2020 (UTC)
Internal Structuring
[edit]Since it is a Co-Op, I was wondering what the internal structure of the organization was, including topics such as how the CEO was being eleted, the influence of the average member(farmer) on the organization as a whole and the board of shareholders. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.211.196.180 (talk) 20:37, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
