Whuppity Scoorie
[edit]What about Whuppity Scourie on March 1st? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.168.185.66 (talk • contribs)
- Huh, that's exactly what I was just coming here to find out about (or Whuppity Scoorie). See [1] and [2]. Elf | Talk 20:48, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Does anyone have a reliable source for the information that George Gray, one of the Dunbar prisoners from 1650, was in fact a native of Lanark?

What is the origin of the name Lanark? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.92.66.232 (talk) 15:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Notable Lanarkians
[edit]To me, this section seems to list too many people, and provides no references for the vast majority of those listed. There is nothing to suggest those mentioned are actually from Lanark or are actually notable. I suggest allowing a period (say two weeks) in which others can find references for those listed to suggest both notability and residency - I will help - and those who can't be referenced in that time can be removed. That will solve both the problem of the information being unreferenced and there being over coverage. --Adam Black talk • contribs • uploads • logs 00:15, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

Royal Burgh ?
[edit]Royal Burghs were abolished in Scotland in the 1970’s. Wouldn’t it be better to describe Lanark as a former Royal Burgh ? 2A02:C7C:D0DC:1300:4066:3C85:E92E:1CBD (talk) 22:07, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Royal Burgh statuses were made defunct in the 1970’s. Seems to be in 1975 that happened when the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 took effect. Lanark is therefore a Former Royal Burgh from 1975 onwards and it’s entry will be edited to reflect that change in the town’s status. 2A02:C7C:D0DC:1300:9936:BBF3:9DE9:72E7 (talk) 21:51, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
