Two Lamberts?

[edit]

The article states that the real Lambert II died on June 19, 1054 and that the "Lambert II of Leuven" that died in 1062 must've actually been another Lambert. I have two complaints about that:

  • whoever put that in the article didn't cite a source;
  • all of the citations for Lambert II's death that I've seen in the last fourteen years indicate that it happened sometime after September 21, 1062, not in 1062 or 1054.

Here are a few of the sources that I've seen:

The aforementioned pages are not authoritative sources, but the various owners of those web sites are regarded — rightly, in my humble opinion — as genealogists of professional and expert caliber. In addition, there are more non-authoritative sources of equal repute. Armed with those sources, I'm prepared to "correct" this issue in the article. However, if someone will cite a truly authoritative source for the 1054 date, I'll accept it and move on with my life. Any takers? -JohnAlbertRigali (talk) 07:50, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to move on with your life, my dear: Sigebert of Gembloux, Chronica, MGH Scriptores, BETHMANN L.C. ed., MGH Scriptores 6 (1844), 360 (ad 1054): Lantbertum comitem Balduini satellitem cum multis perimit.~~
