Hello. I will be conducting a review of this article against the good article criteria. I aim to start this review tomorrow. Steelkamp (talk) 17:02, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Good article criteria
[edit]Criteria 1
[edit]Well written
- There seems to be an inconsistency in whether the automobile in "Lambert automobile" and "Union Automobile" is capitalised. I assume the correct way is that automobile is capitalised when referring to the company, but not capitalised when referring to the vehicle. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

vehicles built from 1905 through 1916 by the Lambert Automobile Company as American vehicles.
That's a weird way to say it. It would sound better and be more informative if you changed it tovehicles built from 1905 through 1916 by the Lambert Automobile Company in Anderson, Indiana, United States.
Then you could remove the sentence sayingThe automobile was manufactured from a factory in Anderson, Indiana.

- Lead mentions the Lambert automobile was a spin off from a previous automobile, but doesn't mention which automobile or company. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:15, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- The Lambert truck was only briefly mentioned in the lead. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

The Lambert automobile was a spin-off from a previous automobile that was being manufactured by another automobile company founded John William Lambert.
Should that be founded by John William Lambert? Also, automobile is said three times in that sentence. At least one should be removed through rewording. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)- Done--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:24, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- It's awkward to see $1200 right next to $3,000. The article should stick to one standard with regards to commas in four digit numbers. Same with 3000 in the lead, vs 3,000 in the body. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:24, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- I'm confused by this:
Union Automobile changed its name to the Lambert Automobile
. I thought the Lambert Automobile was a spin off, meaning the original company was still active. I think this section should be elaborated on further. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC) - Done--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:43, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- Link Chicago and St. Paul. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

- The list of models isn't structured the best. The different models are very similar to each other, so much of the information there is repeated. What would be better is if the changes between models is talked about instead. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:37, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm still not happy with this. It does not make good writing to see several paragraphs in a row that are very similar. I think a table would work better. Steelkamp (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Doug Coldwell: ^ Have you seen this comment? ^ What I want is columns for model name, cost, weight, wheelbase, gauge, brief description and other details not in other columns and image. Steelkamp (talk) 16:19, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Steelkamp: Done Table has been done as you specified.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 21:00, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
More to come. Steelkamp (talk) 13:44, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- It is redundant to mention the transmission for each vehicle, considering it is all the same. Steelkamp (talk) 13:55, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

- What is a Jones Speedometer? Steelkamp (talk) 13:55, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Steelkamp: Done - Don't know. I just went with what the source says on page 225a. I figured it must have been important if the source pointed it out, so put it into the article. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 14:42, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
- Can you quote to me what the source says? Steelkamp (talk) 14:48, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
- Top right column page 225a = Price $3,000, including mats, horn, 5 lamps, and generator, a Jones Speedometer, and a full tool equipment ready for extended touring. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:06, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
- Fair enough. That can be left in. Steelkamp (talk) 15:12, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

- Lead says "The factory manufactured about 3,000 automobiles and trucks by 1915", but in the body, it says "Production reached 3,000 automobiles per year by 1915". Should the lead be per year? Steelkamp (talk) 15:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

When the war ended so did the Lambert automobile as production of the car was never resumed.
This is pedantic I know, but couldn't it be said that the Lambert automobile ended when the US entered the war? Steelkamp (talk) 15:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)- Done --Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:47, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
The high end Lambert chassis integrated a three-point suspension to save driving power.
Does high end mean all Lambert chassis were high end, or is this referring to a subset that were high end? This could be reworded to make it clearer. Steelkamp (talk) 15:30, 18 February 2022 (UTC)- Done --Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:47, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Criteria 2
[edit]Verifiable with no original research
- Sources are all reliable. Steelkamp (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- I will have to assume good faith for the sources I can't access. Steelkamp (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
Criteria 3
[edit]Broad in its coverage
Criteria 4
[edit]Neutral
Criteria 5
[edit]Stable
Criteria 6
[edit]Illustrated, if possible
- I see no reason to doubt that those images were taken in the 1900s and 1910s, so they are all definitely out of copyright. Steelkamp (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- Maybe the images can be incorporated into the table I suggested above. This would solve the problem of images being not next to their corresponding text in the article. Steelkamp (talk) 09:50, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- Working --Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:17, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- Done @Steelkamp: Table done by an expert editor. Will that work?--Doug Coldwell (talk) 15:10, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
