Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.
If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)
I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I will use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.
Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.
Immediate Failures
[edit]It is a long way from meeting any one of the six good article criteria
-It contains copyright infringements
-It has, or needs, cleanup banners that are unquestionably still valid. These include{{cleanup}}, {{POV}}, {{unreferenced}} or large numbers of {{citation needed}}, {{clarify}}, or similar tags. (See also {{QF-tags}}).
-It is not stable due to edit warring on the page.

Links
[edit]- I've run some scripts for you for the refs. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:34, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Could you make sure we have no CAPS LOCK titles in refs? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:34, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
Prose
[edit]Lede
[edit]- Theres some rogue citations in the lede. Are they necessary? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Why do we need ELs in the infobox. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- What's an WL?
- External link Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 06:59, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
- What's an WL?
- American football quarterback - WP:SEAOFBLUE Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'd prefer a bit of a reorder of the lede... Can we comment who he is, what he's most famous for, before giving a rundown of his career? The most notable part is being an MVP. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- I feel that "playoff" needs a link. It has different connotations in other sports. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Should probably link/comment on what rushing yards are - Jargon. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Why is "led the league" linked, touchdown is jargon, so that's what should be linked. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- "Jackson was named the NFL Most Valuable Player for 2019, becoming only the second-ever unanimous selection for the award." - poorly worded. I suggest
In 2019, he was the NFL Most Valuable Player, the second player to receive a unanimous selection for the award
and move above. Best Wishes,- Done «Marylandstater» «reply» 02:33, 11 April 2020 (UTC) Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:02, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
General
[edit]- Early years could pobably do with being two paragraphs. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Jackson's cousin, Oakland Raiders cornerback Trayvon Mullen, and Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley also competed against Jackson in that league. - this won't age, and isn't correct. I suggest removing the teams completely here. They weren't at the teams at the time, and are likely to change teams in the future. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Growing up, his favorite player was Michael Vick. - why was he his favourite player? I feel this is a personal life thing. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- I feel like the link to football should be in early life. Something like: "He attended public schools and played football in the Pop Warner Florida league..." Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Touchdown should be linked on first usage Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- What is a quarterback rating? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- What is a "nationally ranked" team? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Should probably link 100 meters. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- quarterback and nothing else.[5][17][18][19] - refbomb. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Is the External videos suitable? Seems really misplaced. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- link/explain what a rushing touchdown is. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- 4 rushing touchdowns - Four rushing... Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Please go through the article for MOS:NUM and change 1-9 to one-nine. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Not sure on the MOS, but I'd much prefer all of the statistics tables to be in one place, rather than mixed into the prose Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- What is the point of the predraft table? It's barely populated. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- The image captions like Jackson versus Cincinnati Bengals - should probably have a rough date month/year. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- I was surprised to learn postseason is how it's spelt and not post-season. Americanisms are weird. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- His college awards are uncited. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Are any of his NFL records notable? They seem like statcruft Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Ravens franchise records is definately fancruft. If it's notable, it should have it's own article. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- pitting current NFL players against former NFL players.[134][135] - repetition of NFL. This happens quite a bit in the article. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Cyber Monday 2019 - we should be consistent when we use numbers before or after names. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- The quote in popular culture should have speech marks, and there is no reason to not have it inline. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- In February 2020, BET Digital highlighted Jackson as one of 40 of the most inspiring and innovative vanguards in African American culture and who are redefining what it means to be "unapologetically young, gifted & Black" - puff. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- What is going on with the image at the bottom? It is destroying the references, and alignment and has no caption. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Jackson's pre-game meal is shrimp alfredo pasta and his favorite superhero is Superman. - puff. We don't mention literally everything about someone. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- A few duplinks, such as "Baker Mayfield", "Joe Flacco" and AFC Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:29, 7 April 2020 (UTC)

Comments
[edit]- Automated note - If you fancy returning the favour, I have outstanding GA nominations that require reviewing at WP:GAN. I'd be very grateful if you were to complete one of these, however it's definitely not mandatory. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs)
- Marylandstater - I've put this one on hold. I really don't like puff, specifically misplaced external links and images. Let me know when you've addressed the above points. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:36, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Marylandstater, have you had any time to look further into this? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:37, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sadly, it's been two weeks with no updates at all, I don't have much choice but to close this one. If you plan to renominate, drop me a ping, and I'll take a second look. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 09:57, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
