Charles Lapworth
[edit]Presumably, named in honour of the geologist Charles Lapworth? Can anyone confirm that? Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 01:23, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Was it real?
[edit]Doubt has been cast on the existence of Lake Lapworth by some researchers in recent years and this should be reflected in the article. Supposed lake shorelines have been shown to be less certain than they were once supposed and the Severn Trench has been detected beneath the land surface west of and east under Shrewsbury bolstering an alternative origin for the cutting of the Ironbridge gorge involving a subglacial proto-Severn. cheers Geopersona (talk) 07:36, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- Do you have the sources? Obviously, include them in the article if you do. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:47, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- Indeed! Geopersona (talk) 06:43, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
