Recent changes, where from?

[edit]

The changes in the second paragraph, under Geography, [1], are cited to separate two works. Did the editor who made these changes actually look at the sources cited to see that the changes are accurate? If not, where did he get this new information, and can he or she please cite the source? BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 21:03, 11 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Source 5 (Jerry Reynold's history) supports only the last sentence in the paragraph. No edit was done there.
Source 6 is an interesting photograph, but doesn't appear to support anything. It's unclear why that source is listed.
Neither of the two sources support anything else in the Geography section, before or after edit.
Other edits I did in Geography:
The road intersection is a "T" intersection with Lake Hughes Road to the south, Pine Canyon Road to the west, and Elizabeth Lake Road to the east. While there are a dozen or so residences to the east which are considered to be part of the Lake Hughes community, the vast majority of residences, and businesses are to the west. It seems somewhat misleading to use Pine Canyon Road as a reference point. Would it be helpful to use a Google map as a citation?
The location of Andrade Corner is several miles to the west of Lake Hughes. It is located in the community of Elizabeth Lake. I'm not sure how to cite an edit that deleted the reference to Andrade Corner. A map would make it clear.
I also deleted reference to Quail Lake, which is located 25 miles east of Lake Hughes in the far western Antelope Valley. The communities of Three Points and Neenach both lie between Lake Hughes and Quail Lake.
The other edit was to expand on the statement that Lake Hughes dried up in the "early days". This is true but implies that nowadays it does not dry up. In fact, the lake has dried up this year.
Hope this help explain some. I certainly don't want to step on any toes. I have lived in the area for 30 years.
