The spelling of this lake is in question. Rand McNally's New Orleans and Vicinity Streetfinder[1] and DeLorme's Louisiana Atlas and Gazetteer[2] have it spelled Lake Cataouatche. This is also the spelling used by The Associated Press[3] in reporting a trial in U.S. District Court in New Orleans involving a Tampa Bay area man accused of bribery in connection with the construction of a levee on this lake in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
