Sex change?
[edit]Maybe I'm being dim, but I can't find anything in the lyrics to suggest "she" is a drag queen or is having a sex change 194.75.244.138 15:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- the references to curly haired boys and once screaming growths that must now be cut away —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.125.110.223 (talk) 16:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- The lyrics are completely straight forward (surprisingly) --67.54.192.52 (talk) 06:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Subject Matter Paragraph
[edit]I've deleted the subject matter paragraph because as far as I can tell it is all POV. If there was a citation it would be a different matter. Wowbobwow12 20:54, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- The lyrics are completely straight forward... if the lyrics were in the article that would suffice. Though I've never seen lyrics in a Wikipedia entry for a song (which makes about zero sense, but ok) --67.54.192.38 (talk) 06:40, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Lady Godiva
[edit]Does anybody have any idea what (if anything) this song has to do with the legend of Lady Godiva? It would certainly make a nice addition to the article if there is a reason for it. Glassbreaker5791 (talk) 16:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- According to the Wikipedia entry "Godiva" originally meant "God's Gift" in some language... forget, maybe Old English?? Anyway, that seems very appropriate in the bunch's usual ironic sense (for being born trans or whatever) but whether or not the coincidence is intentional might be hard to pin down (if necessary) --67.54.192.52 (talk) 06:43, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Two separate poems?
[edit]The lyrics have always sounded to me like two separate poems that were grafted together, say "Lady Godiva" and "The Operation." The second part makes no direct reference at all to the Lady Godiva part and has a completely different feel to it. Has anyone read comments by Lou about this? Short Brigade Harvester Boris (talk) 03:23, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- That probably reflects the split lifestyle of being trans. But Godiva is referred to via a male pronoun (forget) in the operation portion, and it's Godiva's operation, and the first half seems to be set in a hospital setting in hindsight. --67.54.192.52 (talk) 06:46, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
