In need of an update
[edit]The latest sourced information in this article is over 10 years old. There was some unsourced and POV text on the page of more recent date, but since it was basically soapboxing for different points of view regarding the organisation, it has been removed. Hopefully there is some more recent information to be found, e.g. about the (alleged) forced conversions. --bonadea contributions talk 09:51, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Islamophobic
[edit]SlackingViceroy, Where did Van Beek call it "Islamophobic"? And why is this term being linked to Violence against Muslims in India? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 18:47, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- I understand your concerns. I linked to the Violence against Muslims page but I intended to link to an article similar to "Islamophobia in [insert county]" as found for other related article pages but it redirects to that article as no "Islamophobia in India" page exists. Seeing as the page focuses on physical violence and extremism towards Muslims and not really on hostility or discriminatory attitudes towards them, I should of not linked it especially since it feels inappropriate for the context. As for for the Van Beek part, I'm assuming for you mean the first sentence of the 4th paragraph. I meant to add other refs or get to back to it (I haven't edited this page for a small while and no longer had in my watchlist after clearing all of it sometime ago) to support that specific sentence and wasn't meant to be only Van Beek's Views. However, I now currently believe that parts that say "Islamophobic" and "anti-Christian" should be removed as reading more sources on the subject do cover the alliance of LBA with other groups but many of the sources don't directly state that these groups are anti-Christian or anti-Muslim (it is only implicitly mentioned in regards to the policies or worldviews of these groups). It was meant to include this source (especially the chapter "Jammu and Kashmir: Dispute and Diversity" and this source) "Beyond the Lines of Control: Performance and Politics on the Disputed Borders of Ladakh, India", this source (Chapter 5: Kashmir Summer: 1978-1989), and this source:"Demystifying Kashmir" (pages 115 onward). Anti-Muslim and anti-Christian sentiment aren't really explicitly mentioned, they mainly state that these allied groups were right-wing Hindu nationalists aimed at promoting Hinduism (Buddhism in Ladakh) at the expanse of other religions not seen as "Indian" or "related " to Hinduism.
- I'm glad you brought your concerns here. Anyway, the portion that reads "...with a pronounced anti-Christian and Islamophobic bias..." should be removed as the additional sources just don't make it clear. I invite you to edit or make changes to the article if you wish for the reasons given. I may also go over the article to check out for any possible issues. Thank you for bringing this admittedly sloppy work to my attention. SlackingViceroy (talk) 22:13, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. Moving on, in this edit, you removed the reference to the 1989 riots. Can you explain why? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:08, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
- Now you say the riots were caused by "political and economic resentment". Can you tell me what exactly the source says? I can't see the page on Google Books. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 00:28, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
