Was there ever a no-pants-suit rule?

[edit]

The article on Nan Kempner claims that she was allowed into the La Côte Basque restaurant only after she removed her trousers. Yet this article says nothing about a rule forbidding women to wear pants, which surely would be highly discriminatory. Did the restaurant ever have such a rule, or is the story merely an urban legend? Vaughan Pratt (talk) 01:10, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vaughan Pratt: Indeed, there seems to have been one. Opencooper (talk) 09:05, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding that! Vaughan Pratt (talk) 19:16, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
“Windows on The World” at the first World Trade Center had the same rule. 2600:1700:1421:7FE0:6CCB:7063:F1EC:1378 (talk) 08:23, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
