confused

[edit]

First, I'd like to see some references on this article.

Secondly, I'm confused as to what this article has to do with gay rights? The opening sentence says that there are no "sodomy laws". But then the article goes on about sexual grooming. There does not seem to be any indication here that these laws apply to only homosexual relations. In fact they seem to be concerned with sex between minors and adults. of any sex.

Can someone clear this up, edit it so it's on topic or Afd it? --Monotonehell 08:35, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, apart from the no-sodomy-laws phrase, there's nothing about gay rights here. Needs lots of work. --Textorus 08:41, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for information about laws concerning sexual behavior on the Isle of Man, and found this very useful. I don't understand your concern. No laws against homosexual behavior, and laws against discrimination in employment seems like "everything" that has to do with gay rights. I would also like to know about same sex marriage too. The only problem I see with the article is that there is more to say. I hope a lawyer from the Isle of Man will give more information, and that a gay resident will write about gay life there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.25.108.12 (talkcontribs) 19:20, 26 March 2007

MSMs?

[edit]

Could someone define 'MSMs' in this article? ("MSMs allowed to donate blood" near the bottom) There are many explanations for this acronym on the MSM page, and I would guess it referrs to the 'Men who have sex with men' one? Just a little confused, Thanks. Martinkorner 22:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Martinkorner (talkcontribs)

Yes, you picked the right meaning. I have disambiguated the wikilink so that it now points to Men who have sex with men. Aleta Sing 23:13, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I just went back and spelled out the term. We really should not be using initialisms without defining them first anyway. Thanks for pointing that out! Aleta Sing 23:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Equality/Discrimination

[edit]

I am rather confused. I have checked the legislation and none of them give the right or the reasonable expectation of LGBT people of no discrimination when accessing services. This is misleading in the article. The human rights act gives the right of individuals who are not getting their human rights afforded by the state to take action to force the state or an organ of the state to give them the right. If the right doesnt exist or if it a shop or private person, this right doesnt exist! Can someone more qualified in the way this website works please fix this.

Prominent gay people

[edit]

I see that other similar articles for other countries don't have sections about LGBT people or societies but would such a thing be permitted on this page? I am not really aware of any prominent gay people on the island with the exception of the head of government, Chief Minister, Alan Bell (see his page for sources, etc.).--XANIA - ЗAНИAWikipedia talk | Wikibooks talk 14:18, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
