Why delete the reference to his BJP membership? If he hasn't recently left the party (he hasn't, has he?), then that's useful information and should be reinstated. Hajor 17:17, 14 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I can't see why either. Feel free to put the information back. -- Arvindn 17:56, 27 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hi

Point taken but Mr advani faces charges in various Indian Courts news reports on him and an article in Time Magazine accuse him for the above acts Mr Advani has not brought charges of libel againt these news media. - However I will edit and place the word alleged as its proper to do so sine he has not been convicted in any court regards lalit shastri

Ho just looked at the archives of the Hindu newspaper and Times of India they give a blow by blow account of the Yath Yatra with pictures of Advani on his Toyata Chirot leading a mss of people his sppeches he gave at every stop demanded a mosque be pulled down and a temple built - So that proves he did lead a Yath Yatra - there are also riots that followed everywhere he went maybe its for the courts to decide if his yatra was a cause of the riots

""NPOV dispute""

Personal point of view "This process achieved their goal but also polarised and poisoned the Indian society like never before." Should be removed ---The industrialist 15:47, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi

Above point: India's 100 million muslim population was alienated reports from the main muslim newspaper "Milli Gazette" Also there are a large majority of secular Hindus who were against the pulling down of the mosque they were polarised - this section of population drove Advani's party the BJP from power and Congress won the elections. Advani has not been conviced yet in any court because as Home Minister and with the largest majority in parliment he was the principal lawmaker - With the new regime in New Delhi Cases against him are being reinstated

regards

Lalit Shastri

You cannot cite opinion of a non-neutral(miligazzete) paper which reflects the political opinion of a group. "He will go down in history for" is still not a NPOV. Remember maybe from your political perception you think Advani should be remembered for political allegation but not from others. --The industrialist 09:19, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi

I quote from the Milli Gazette because that newspaper represents the views of muslims who were polorised along with the secular Hindus - Where else do you go to find a source that reflects the opinions of many muslins except the Milli Gazette - only the line that is relevant to the milli newspaper gazette is the one that describes the opinion of India's muslims - I will not quote them when I talk of anything else.

Anway I have no opinion on Mr Advani - I just wish to report in a NPOV manner how his life effected India. If his most signifact act had been something elese then he would have been remembered for that

Lalit Shastri

Lalit Shastri, I've seen you on many related topics. You've proved that you are not an India and are using a fake Brahman name. Sign your comments with Tildes--71.163.65.142 20:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Lal Krishna Advani or Lal Kishenchand Advani

He is often referred to as "Lal Kishenchand Advani", so I've mentioned that (and created a redirect from Lal Kishenchand Advani. Going to the Lok Sabha's web page, and clicking on Leader of the Opposition will return "Lal Krishna Advani". As of August 25, 2005, there are about 7,600 results for Kishenchand and about 28,000 results for Krishna. There are some hits on the BJP's website and on L. K. Advani's website for both names.

--Arun 04:16, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

    • The Parliament of India's website refers to him as Lal Krishna Advani. Adding Lal Krishna Advani back, until someone can prove one way or the other which one his name is.

Why is his name written in urdu? lol Tuncrypt 03:21, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Advani is from Sindh, where Urdu is a major language, so his name in Urdu is ok.Hkelkar 03:37, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

He is a Sindhi, so his name should be written in Sindhi- therefore he has nothing to do with urdu. Tuncrypt 21:15, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

i have add Sindhi Script written in pakistan(Perso-Arabic script)). Khalidkhoso 21:07, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

He was Born

He was Born in Hyderabad sindh not Karachi Sindh? Khalidkhoso 20:54, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Languages? Just a thought!

I do not know if Mr. Advani can speak Sindhi, however, considering his nationwide political career, Hindi script (instead of Sindhi) should be given as it is official language of India. Szhaider 08:33, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments Szhaider. Sindhi can be written in Devanagari and in Perso-Arabic. Even in India, many Sindhis still write the language in the Perso-Arabic script. For example, see the Indian Institute of Sindhology and Sindhi Sangat, which use the Perso-Arabic as their primary script. Khalidkhoso, a Pakistani Sindhi, has graciously added the Perso-Arabic, and can rightfully stay in light of the above facts. With regards, AnupamTalk 17:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
You have not replied to my comment about Hindi. I will be waiting. I removed Perso-Arabic script because it was incomplete. I think only complete script should be added. And only if we have proof that Mr. Advani himself speaks Sindhi and reads, and writes its Devangari and Arabic scripts. Moreover, are there any widely acceptable reliable sources proving the wide usage of Devangari script for Sindhi? In Pakistan, Sindhi is written exclusively in Arabic script, Sindhi is extensively used despite being a regional language. Szhaider 18:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, I can request Khalidkhoso to add the complete script. The Pryadarshni Academy confirms that Shri Advani is a leader of the Sindhi Community and the Indian Community as a whole. In addition, most Hindu Sindhi's names with the suffix -ani. In India, Sindhi is written in both Devanagari and Perso-Arabic scripts. Thus, the Government of India, recoginizes both scripts for writing Sindhi (please see Sindhi language: Script). Please also see some additional sources: Acharya: Sindhi and UrbanPK: Discover Language. I have also found a source stating the Sindhi was Shri Advani's native language (please see Rediff: The Rediff Special - L K Advani). Please also note the dual scripted sign in the picture where Shri Advani is depicted with other speakers at the Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha in this article. In light of these facts, Sindhi scripts should stay on this article. With regards, AnupamTalk 19:01, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi there Yes it had error in spelling now i have corrected. Please check it Khalidkhoso 23:38, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
He was Born In Sindh and he is Sindhi Hindu .He can speak Sindhi but i am not sure about if he can write it or not .there is no difference between Sindhi Spoken in Indian the one spoken in Sindh Pakistan. Khalidkhoso 23:55, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Cool down Szhaider! I dont think its appropriate of you to remove content on stuff you are not sure of. Advani is a Hindu Sindhi surname. Its not our fault if you cant recognise them... P.S Anupam/Khalid could you add Arabic script to Pankaj Advani, unfortunately i never bothered to learn Sindhi in Arabic script. Amey Aryan DaBrood© 20:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Most Hindu Sindhis use Arabic or Gurumukhi to write.Bakaman 01:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
I have written Pankaj Advani name in Sindhi Script(Arabic-Persiab) .Just have Look on it. AMbroodEY u r true,it is sindhi Hindu Tribe names and there are still Many Advani living in Sindh. Khalidkhoso 13:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Amey Aryan DaBrood, thanks for your comments and request. I have added Sindhi to the Pankaj Advani article in the Devanagari script. Khalidkhoso, thanks for adding Sindhi in Perso-Arabic script to the same article. It is very much appreciated. If you have time, there are many individuals listed in Category:Sindhi people, that need the Sindhi script additions. Bakaman, thanks for the information. I was aware of the fact. However, from my understanding, Sindhi is only written in Gurumkhi in Punjab, correct? Thanks again for all your comments and help everyone. It is greatly appreciated. With regards, AnupamTalk 22:40, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you all for the information. I wanted to remove Arabic script of Sindhi because it was incomplete. Now it is complete; thanks to Mr. Khalid. Thanks again!!! Szhaider 10:43, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Question

Is there any difference between Sindhi Devangari and Hindi Devangari of Lal Krishna Advani? (Just curious) Szhaider 18:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Controversies

It is widely suspected that Mohammad Afzal was tortured and blackmailed before a media "confession" was organized by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. The Supreme Court had set aside the confessional statement of Mohammad Afzal as unreliable. However, the Court did not inquire into the extra-judicial significance of its act.

No source. Supreme court upheld his death sentence. Lack of sources. I am deleting this. Nuttysocrates

Cousin

There's no need to mention him having a cousin living in New York City. Even if you neglect the fact that there's no source, a cousin isn't a particularly close relative and therefore requires no mention, when you consider that the cousin in question has done nothing to warrant a mention. I'm deleting this point. Chaitanya —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tsjeytanje (talkcontribs) 07:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Koenraad Elst

I found these statements about L.K. Advani and Koenraad Elst, maybe this is useful for the article:

His statement — despatched by the home ministry — was accompanied by an extract on his Rath yatra of 1990 from a book titled The Saffron Swastika by Belgian priest and professed Sangh sympathiser Koenraad Elst. The passage argued that the yatra did not spill blood on its course. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1040110/asp/nation/story_2771836.asp

Gupta even read an excerpt from the Belgian pro-Sangh pamphleeter Koenraad Elst's Saffron Swastika. ``During the Ayodhya campaign, its leader LK Advani was never caught in the act of making a single anti-Muslim remark, Elst had written. In fact, Advani, calling Elst a ``great historian, had also cited this book to prove his innocence during the early part of his cross-examination at the commission. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/52399.cms

Ayub Khan says that Koenraad Elst is the most prominent advocate of Sangh Parivar in the West. He further says: "Such is his importance in Hindutva circles that L.K.Advani quoted him at length while deposing before the Liberhans Commission investigation the demolition of Babri Masjid." In a reply to Ayub Khan, Elst says that he has been critcial of the Sangh Parivar in his writings

In August 1990, L. K. Advani released Koenraad Elst's book about the Ayodhya conflict at a public function presided over by Girilal Jain.Librorum Prohibitorum (talk) 10:26, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
