Pronounciation

[edit]

Should probably have a section on pronunciation. I've heard "zinn" and "k'zinn"; "g-zinn" (with the Arabic gutteral g/q/k) and "xha-zinn" with the Slavic aspirated H are also possible. How does Niven pronounce it? 72.183.155.139 (talk) 13:22, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

spine

[edit]

According to the original description of the kzinti, they do not have a spine, their torso is a flexible cage of struts. Bonnie Dalzell's illustration: http://www.sloan3d.com/covers/kzinskel.jpg -- Resuna (talk) 15:19, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

names

[edit]

Is it known how kzinti names are chosen, e.g. do kzinti entitled to use a name get to choose the name themselves, or is it assigned to them by a warrior committee, or what? Is it chosen on the spot (at the time they earn the right to have a name) or ahead of time ("win a few more battles and you'll be known as Bob instead of spaceship-janitor")? If this info is available it should be mentioned in the article. Thanks. 67.119.15.30 (talk) 17:50, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kzin inspiration for the Kilrathi in the Wing Commander series.

[edit]

Should there be a mention of the fact that the Kilrathi in the wing commander series were inspired by teh Kzin? In fact they named the system the "niven" system in honor of Larry Niven.
