Two spot checks had partial issues (11 in re: Your Body being first and 30), and there are copy changes. Give this a fresh look after languishing almost six months. Ping me when done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 05:39, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sammi Brie: Thank you for picking this up for a review. I've made changes based on your comments. Please let me know if I’m missing anything Damian Vo (talk) 16:24, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

Copy changes

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • was a released as a surprise remove the first "a"
  • The recording process started in September 2014, which enlisted Giorgio Moroder, Sam Sparro, and Shaggy as co-writers and feature vocalists Reword because September 2014 didn't enlist anyone: the recording process did.

Background and recording

[edit]
  • Minogue met with several songwriters and producers to create the album, among them was Mexican-American producer Fernando Garibay. Two sentences. The comma is not enough. Replace it with a semicolon. (WP:CINS)
  • They recorded several songs intended for Kiss Me Once but none of them made it onto the final tracklist. Comma after "Once"
  • an accompany short film accompanying
  • Garibay has known Moroder since he was 16, and admired his early film scores for their sensuality. Remove comma (sentence has one subject, not two)
  • Garribay typo

Music and lyrics

[edit]
  • "Black and White" is a 1990s-inspired chill-out Eurodance song, in which Shaggy raps over Minogue's delicate vocals. Remove comma (CINS)
  • The EP was digitally distributed on the iTunes Store and streaming service Spotify, before Warner Music Japan and Parlophone released it as a promotional CD-R five days later. No need for this comma right now; maybe drop "before" and add a semicolon there instead

Reception

[edit]
  • A low-key experimental project, Kylie and Garibay has little success on the music charts Should this not be "had"
  • In 2023, Classic Pop's listed "Black and White" and "If I Can't Have You" among Minogue's best collaborations, and named "Your Body" her second-best deep-cut track. Remove comma after "collaborations" (CINS)

Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]
  • 11: Shared ref to two articles from Idolator and Billboard. checkY except for one item.
    • Your Body as earliest song: Not seeing it. Does another ref cover this?
Removed as the ref is unreliable/self-published. Damian Vo (talk) 16:18, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Garibay knowing Moroder since 16: I met Giorgio when I think I was 16.
    • Garibay trying to go erotic: His early stuff was really sexual and erotic, but not in a pornographic way. It was more like art. I’ve always wanted to do something like that. checkY
    • Need for a male counterpart: We needed someone to play the part of the guy. Who was that guy? Who better than Shaggy?
    • Introduction to Shaggy: Garibay says that when they were working on the tune, “it was missing something… I was like, ‘God, we need someone on this.’” After brainstorming, his manager, Martin Kierszenbaum, suggested Shaggy.
  • 20: I can't verify Flynn, as the images are unreadable. The others work: Kylie previously worked with Garibay on last year’s Sleepwalker EP, but the new mini-collection takes on a very different tone and The appropriately-titled Kylie + Garibay is the pop icon’s second collaborative effort with the dance producer (revisit their first here), but the tone is very different this time around checkY
  • 22: And it's quite a dancy-euro-type dance track, with a mix in from Shaggy., it’s the hypnotic, ’90s-sounding club banger “Black And White” that gets a music video., Shaggy's rapping over her floaty vocals checkY
  • 30: Neither of these refs seem to justify this. One doesn't even talk about Black and White.
Removed the "end of relationship" part and fixed the wrong ref. Damian Vo (talk) 16:18, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • 54: Yup, Caulfield said that quote and praised the production. checkY
  • 61: A captivating Italian monologue recited by disco legend Giorgio Moroder heralds the intersection of three electro heavyweights on ‘Your Body’. Released between Minogue albums as part of a collaborative EP with Fernando Garibay (best known for his work on Lady Gaga’s Born This Way), the track is mechanical and mesmerising. checkY

Images

[edit]

Except for the NFUR-bearing album art, all the images are CC-licensed. The Minogue image lacks alt text, and "Refer to caption" would suffice.

Added alt text. Damian Vo (talk) 16:19, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
