Same thing happens in the USA, too...especially in the upper classes in NYC. Consider that Nurery School scandal a few years back involving a Citibank employee attempting bribes to get his kids into the "prestigious" 92d Street Y preschool. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=123782&page=1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.185.203 (talk) 12:28, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article isn't remotely realistic and seems to reflect someone's personal experiences (POV). Read the section "Contemporary kyōiku mamas", it almost reads like fiction.

Some very questionable facts are also presented, such as the claim that youth depression rates are lower in Japan (despite the higher youth suicide rate).

Also no mention of the fact that academic performance has dropped like a rock in Japan for the past 20 years.

It would be nice if someone could flag this as a low quality article that contains a personal point of view.

-- Anonymous, someone already did "flag this" as a low quality article. That is the meaning of "start" in the ratings you see. Dimadick (talk) 07:23, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
