Removal of Diagram
[edit]Removed for a couple of reasons the main one being that its a copy of an opinion given here and therefore qualifies as original research (http://judoforum.com/index.php?showtopic=15482) if not copyright violation (even if the same person entered both).
It applies to a very specific situation and not kuzushi in general and in isolation it gives the mistaken impression that this is what kuzushi is and how it is best applied. It is quite different from the general consensus.
The feet placement described has some merit when describing lines of weakness but both people are at equal disadvantage and hence it comes down to a contest of strength and flexibility. Its a great training game for developing the "kuzushi feel"- I'm inspired to use it tonight but it does miss the idea of advantageous body placement.Peter Rehse 04:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Judo bias
[edit]The article implies that kuzushi is a judo concept. I wonder if there is a good source for that? The concept is used in wider aikido circles than only Shodokan, and Wado Ryu karate is to my knowledge not very influenced by judo. I could be wrong, but to my mind it seems this statement is incorrect. Maybe it is better to divide the article into several parts, one more general and one about kuzushi in judo. Otherwise I fear this article will always be in a state of struggle between judo bias and tries to get rid of judo bias. // habj 20:35, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
You're right - neither Aikido nor Wado Ryu was influenced by Judo. Rather, all three were developed from Ju Jitsu (Wado being a hybrid of Ju Jitsu and Shotokan Karate). So it's likely that the emphasis on kuzushi in all three arts derives from Ju Jitsu. I'll hunt out a reliable source for this. DCTEN (talk) 13:30, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
Done - I've amended the article as above with a reference to Eddie Ferrie's 'Ju Jitsu Classical and Modern'. DCTEN (talk) 21:58, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
