Article Confusion
[edit]This article confuses the business group of QR, Kuranda Scenic Railway, with the railway line that goes from Cairns to Kuranda. I propose that the two be separated with information about the company staying here and information about the railway moving to a new article - Kuranda Range Railway. Image gallery
[edit]There seems to be a persistent misperception on one user's part as to the appropriateness of an image gallery in an article. Actually, it's just fine to have one of these. The policy is actually against articles that are nothing but an image gallery. Enjoy. Kelisi (talk) 21:22, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- We also discourage galleries of images which are just random collections or provide no extra knowledge. This gallery shows the pretty mountain scenery, something already understood from the article text. We know there are bridges and waterfalls along the railway. Photos of people waiting at a station or the roof of a station don't provide any knowledge which would make the gallery legitimate. I understand how to use galleries, for example, on the Australian residential architectural styles, where the photos have been selected to show specific design features. I can't see how these photos have been carefully selected, except to say look at the lovely railway. It would be better to have one or two photos of the train instead and if the article expands add some more then. In the meantime the commons link at the bottom is suffice, however I am not going to remove it again. - Shiftchange (talk) 01:35, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
