Material added 24 February 2010
[edit]Material added, adapted from Rick Nelson.[1] Ty 13:21, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm wondering--not claiming, just wondering--if some of this new material doesn't fall under the heading of non-neutral or undue weight as described in WP:BLP, especially since it is described as adapted from the Rick Nelson article, where WP:BLP doesn't apply. In particular, BLP mentions particular care required in describing aspects of the personal lives of subjects who, while worthy of an article, are not widely well-known, a description which fits Kristin Nelson in my opinion. I'd like to hear thoughts from others on this matter.Monkeyzpop (talk) 22:31, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
BLP applies wherever there is material about living people. It applies in the Rick Nelson article the same as any other article, though not of course about Rick Nelson himself (but WP:V and other policies still apply).
"Not widely known" does not apply here. WP:WELLKNOWN applies. As you said in the AfD, "an awful lot of people knew who she was in the 1960s and 1970s". Her private life with Rick Nelson is fully documented in at least two books, and the later custody case, with its intimate details, was played out in the national press. According to the The Blade, "Kristin Nelson Tinker has been in the spotlight all her life, through spectacular ups and downs."[2]
WP:NPOV demands we follow sources. As they give considerable exposure to her private life, it would be non-neutral not to do likewise. Regarding WP:UNDUE, I am not sufficiently familiar with the totality of coverage to judge properly whether it is represented proportionately in the article. My feeling is that if there is a problem, it is not with the new material from Rick Nelson being too long, but with other sections of the article not being long enough, and you might care to expand them. Compare with the much longer article Rick Nelson where the same length (actually slightly longer) of this material about Kristin also occurs. One could well argue that it is more significant for her notability than it is for his.
There may be beneficial careful editing of this material. I have reversed the order of sections, so that career aspects come first and therefore gain more attention.

Is there a date problem here?
[edit]In the first sentence in the section headed "Art" there is a date given - 1988 - which seems to imply she started painting sometime in 1988 or 1989. This article also lists a subject of one of her paintings as occurring in 1964. And her own official site (http://kristinnelson.com/index.html) lists art shows before the year 1988.

About the Marriage Story...
[edit]May 25, 2013 This entire entry is the caliber of trash journalism. The journalistic quality is so poor I find it useless to seek to improve it. The world of the Internet is filled with hateful authors. Kristin Harmon Nelson is a marvelous human being. My information about her life and accomplishments is all first hand. Thus, what I know to be true is unwanted and not acceptable to Wiki policy and Wiki hall monitors. The section about Mrs. Nelsons marriage has dozens of footnotes— but the citations all point to two old biographies of her late ex-husband from the 1990s, both of which have adulatory subtitles. I am wondering how accurate this harsh version of the story is. I am sure her version of the story of the marriage and divorce would be quite different from what we see here. This article keeps referring to ‘Nelson’. There are two Nelson’s. When it says ‘Nelson filed for custody’, it appears that they are referring to Kristen but it is not clear. This would be fixed if the article used first names. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lhammer610 (talk • contribs) 14:10, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Children
[edit]The blurb that Tracey Nelson was "premature" is untrue and actually debunked in the reference (#34, NYTimes article), but presented here as the truth. Kris was pregnant when married and Tracey was full term when born. This entire article is so inconsistent that it's embarrassing. 2601:8C0:801:460:8D9B:3162:91B8:3235 (talk) 18:15, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Absolutely agree. It's been debunked for years, yet right here on Wiki.206.206.145.139 (talk) 14:59, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
